The use of the Slack workspace technology for parent/teacher/administration communications has helped provide more effective communication between parents/teachers/staff at HCS. With the use of Slack, we have been able to streamline communications between parents with children in the same grade as well as communicative access to their respective teachers. Each parent invited to the app are assigned to their child’s grade channel (along with school-wide-chat and announcement channels). All HCS Teaching staff are assigned to their respective grade channels as well. Parents can communicate with other parents as well as teachers publicly or privately. Parents/Teachers can also attach pictures, documents, videos, etc. If Sally forgot her homework and needs a specific lesson plan, her mom or dad post it in the Slack app. All of the parents with children in her grade will see the notification and attach or explain what the homework is. The app will also be used for sending out important announcements and weather-related information.
