Visual Arts

The Visual Art Department at Harmony Christian School is based on the understanding that God, the original creator, is a creative God who designed mankind to be imaginative and creative. He gave us the ability to produce artwork that is glorifying to Him. Students at Harmony are introduced to a variety of art materials and techniques. The early years are about joy and discovery as they learn about media, and the elements and principles of art. Art lessons also make connections to other subjects such as history and the Bible.

K3 and K4 have art once a week for 45 minutes. K5-8th grade has two 45 minute classes a week.

Beginning in 9th grade, students may choose art as an elective. They may choose from Studio Art or Sculpting. These are two 45 minute sessions a week. The upper grades learn more advanced techniques and explore many different media.

The HCS Art department loves to show off our student’s artwork. The artwork is displayed throughout the whole school, often taking up as much space as the walls allow. The artwork is also displayed on the Slack app for parents, staff, and board members to enjoy.

At HCS it is our goal for students to enjoy art as they learn to develop their skills. All this is done for the Glory of God.
